Know Who Is Using AI,

What It Costs, and Where It Delivers Value

As organisations expand from Microsoft 365 Copilot into agents, advanced Copilot experiences, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Foundry models, usage-based charges can introduce a growing variable into technology budgets. Exigo Tech helps IT and finance teams bring structure to that spend before adoption scales. We map how AI services are billed, establish spending policies and Azure budgets, configure alerts, assign costs to the right owners, and analyse consumption patterns. The result is greater financial control without restricting access to AI where it creates genuine business value.

We map every AI service you pay for, from Microsoft 365 Copilot licences to Copilot Credits, GitHub AI Credits and Microsoft Foundry consumption, and confirm the billing method, subscription and owner for each one. Gaps such as unowned subscriptions or unlimited policies are flagged straight away.

We set up usage-based billing in the Microsoft 365 admin center, configure spending policies, monthly limits and credit requests, and decide whether new Copilot services should join a policy automatically or wait for review.

In Microsoft Cost Management, we create budgets with actual and forecast alerts for the subscriptions behind your Copilot, agents and models, so the right people hear about overspend early.

Using tags, Copilot Studio billing plans and cost allocation, we build a monthly report of AI spend by team, project and user, ready for chargeback and easy for budget holders to read without technical help.

We review model choice, prepaid capacity versus pay-as-you-go, licence assignment and usage patterns, then give you a prioritised list of savings, each with an owner and an expected impact.

FAQs

It is the work of controlling what you spend on usage-billed AI, such as Copilot Credits, GitHub AI Credits and Microsoft Foundry models. We review how each service is billed, set spending limits and alerts, and report costs by team and project, so AI spend stays predictable as adoption grows.

Copilot Credits are Microsoft common unit for usage-billed AI, including Copilot Cowork, Copilot Studio agents and Work IQ APIs. Credits are pooled across your tenant, and each task uses more or fewer depending on its complexity. You can pay as you go through Azure, buy prepaid capacity packs or use a pre-purchase plan.

No. The per-user licence covers Copilot in Chat and in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. More advanced experiences, such as Copilot Cowork, some SharePoint features and certain paid models, use Copilot Credits on top. We help you decide who gets access to those experiences and set limits before anyone starts using them.

Not on their own. Azure budgets send alerts at the thresholds you set, but they do not stop consumption. Hard limits come from spending policies in the Microsoft 365 admin center, Copilot Studio capacity settings and GitHub Copilot overage controls. We design both layers so alerts give early warning and limits do the stopping.

Since 1 June 2026, GitHub Copilot plans use GitHub AI Credits instead of premium requests. Code completions stay unlimited on paid plans, while chat, agent mode and code review use credits that vary by model. Organisations can pay through an Azure subscription, so GitHub Copilot spend can sit alongside your other AI costs.

Yes. We combine Azure tags, Copilot Studio billing plans, Microsoft 365 spending policies and, where your agreement supports it, Azure cost allocation rules. The result is a monthly view of AI spend by team, project and user that finance can use for chargeback and budgeting.

Microsoft has announced that new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licences bought through CSP will have usage-based billing switched on by default, with pay-as-you-go as the default method. We review your defaults, spending limits and who can use metered features before new licences arrive, so nothing is charged without a decision.
